Rescue Outreach: Spirit at Horses Healing Hearts

I had the opportunity to meet with Melissa at Horses Healing Hearts recently and saw Spirit again. Spirit/Lichtenstein (gelding) is almost 9 years old and is the Great Great Grandson of Secretariat. If anyone has seen that movie knows exactly what I'm talking about. Tears...for being so good. He was found emaciated in a pasture in Castro Valley on December 31st, 2011.

That's when Horses Healing Hearts took him in. He has such a charming personality. After years of love and care, Spirit is ready for his forever home. He would do best with an experienced rider. He has some limitations and can be walked and trotted. He can canter, however he needs to build up muscle in the hind leg. He can be ridden English or Western. He is 16.2 hands and an off-the-track Thoroughbred. For more information on the rescue horse Spirit please visit Horses Healing Hearts. There are so many ways you can help, please consider this amazing 501(c)3 non profit. <3

A girl and her horse in a field of flowers

Recently I had the pleasure of working with Melissa of Horses Healing Hearts and her daughter, Hailey. We brought along Grady, a white palomino under the care of Horses Healing Hearts. He is up for adoption and looking for a forever home. He was such a wonderful horse to work with, took direction quite well and was calm and loving on set. I know he will find a loving home, because he is a true gem. To find out more information, please visit HHH Facebook Page, Twitter, or website. I'm obsessed with these photos ladies, thank you for a great shoot. I'm working on a composite for my thesis and I'm so excited. Soon I will post some before and afters, a few of the images below have multiple images in one (blowing of the flowers had 4 shots in one). Enjoy!!!

Horses Healing Hearts

It was so great to meet Melissa from Horses Healing Hearts. Melissa is founder of this organization which educates the community about the value, benefits and life changing gifts horses can provide to all of us, and simultaneously provides assistance to equines in need. I loved getting to know her, the lovely horses she cares for and the great work they do. For more info, please visit http://horseshealingheartsinc.org/.
