Mixed Breeds

I absolutely love mixed breeds, they have such unique features. This project explores the macro detail of their facial features. These dogs were so much fun to work with. I also photographed them doing their best tricks, which I will post that series at a later time. Sierra is a cattle herder and beagle mix, she was rescued from ARF by Nicolette.

Josie is a lab shar pei mix. She is a part of my family, my husband and I rescued her from a San Diego animal shelter nearly 8 years ago.

Betty is a pug mix and was rescued by Gretchen. Cleo is a husky boxer mix. She is also a part of our dog pack, my husband and I rescued her at a dog park in San Diego when she was 8 weeks old.

Jenga is a golden lab ibiza mix and was rescued by my friends Staci and Max at the SF SPCA. Emma is a hound dachshund manchester terrier mix. She was rescued by Marie from ARF.

Tuesday Thesis-A Witch's Gaze

Last year I photographed my cousin, his wife and their adorable daughter Simone when they were visiting from Boston. We went up to Mount Diablo to one of my favorite spots for sunset. This last image was used in my thesis midpoint, touching upon the relationship between bird and person. The evil character is watching the king and the princess through the eyes of her bird, waiting for the right opportunity to strike. This concept was inspired by Sleeping Beauty and Maleficent's ever-spying crow.

The Concept, Behind the Scenes of Day 1

I was in New York last month filming "The Concept" with the Framed Network, a show that follows two amazing photographers, Lindsay Adler and Brooke Shaden. For 5 days, 6 assistant producers watched as The Framed crew captured the magic of Brooke and Lindsay as they faced off daily photographing their own concepts at the same location. Check out the promo. I had the opportunity to make some amazing new friends, be personally mentored by Brooke and Lindsay, explore the New York area and take some awesome portfolio images. These are my behind the scenes images from Day 1 at the studio and at the abandoned shipwreck in Staten Island. What an amazing day, I can not wait to share my portfolio image, it will have to wait until Episode 1 comes out in the late summer/early fall. Stay tuned!

Photo cred goes out to Gabe for having long arms and getting us all in one shot and letting us be silly on the High Line.
